Vandal women add Foster, Saich, Rosario to coaching staff

MOSCOW — New Idaho head women's basketball coach Arthur Moreira announced the addition of Lindsey Foster and Derek Saich to the coaching staff on Tuesday afternoon, then added Denise Rosario on Wednesday. Foster, Rosario and Saich will join the Vandals as assistant coaches.

Foster comes to Idaho after one season at the University of Montana, where the Lady Griz won 23 games and advanced to the WNIT, winning their first national postseason tournament game for the first time since 2014.

Prior to Montana, Foster served as the head coach at the Academy of Art in San Francisco for the 2022-23 season.

Much like Moreira, Foster had a stint at NCAA Division II Sonoma State with the women's program for three years starting as the lead assistant and finishing as the associate head coach.

Foster's first assistant coaching role was at another DII program, St. Martin's, for two seasons from 2017-19.

Foster started her coaching career at Gonzaga as a volunteer assistant coach from 2015-17.

Saich comes to Idaho after three seasons at the University of San Francisco. At USF, he served as the director of basketball operations and as an assistant coach. He spent two seasons coaching alongside Moreira with the Dons.

Prior to San Francisco, Saich spent three years with Texas Southern University's men's basketball program as the video coordinator from 2018 to 2020.

Prior to that, Saich spent two years working with the Nevada men's basketball team as video coordinator, a stint which included a run to the Sweet 16 under former head coach Eric Musselman.

Saich's first college job was with UC Santa Barbara men as the Director of Academics/Video Coordinator.

Rosario has an extensive resume, recruiting two NJCAA All-Americans (Okako Adika '20 and Celia Sumbane '23), one NAIA Second-Team All-American (Priscila Santos '13), and one WNBA draftee (Adika '23). She reached the NJCAA Sweet 16 in back-to-back seasons in 2017 through 2019 and went a step further to the Elite Eight in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. At her last two stops, the programs earned the NJCAA Region V title four times.

Rosario comes to Idaho after three years at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. She served as an assistant coach at South Plains at the JUCO level. Rosario aided in the recruitment of elite domestic and international student-athletes from several countries, including Angola, Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, the Dominican Republic, Mozambique, New Zealand, Nigeria, Poland, Portugal, South Sudan, Sweden, and Turkey.

Lewis-Clark State signs Paul

to men's golf team

Head coach Zach Anderson announced the addition of Stephen Paul to the 2024-25 Lewis-Clark State men's golf roster roster. The freshman from Kellogg will join the Warriors this fall.

"We are thrilled to welcome Stephen Paul to the men's program," Anderson said. "Stephen is coming in with a ton of high-level junior golf experience along with a few Idaho State championships on the high school tour. Stephen has many intangibles that will immediately impact our team from his golf background to his mental approach. We are excited to see what Stephen can accomplish during his time as a Warrior."

Paul competed for Kellogg High and won the state individual championship as a freshman and junior. He averaged a score of 69.1 per round and also played basketball. The rising freshman qualified for the 2023 US Junior Amateur, a tournament for the top golfers under 18 in the world.
