Betsy Ann Marlette, 92
Betsy Ann (Stockard) Marlette passed away June 20, 2024, at the home of her son, Bobby, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, following a stroke. She was most recently a resident of Orchard Ridge Senior Living in Coeur d’Alene.
Betsy was born in 1932 in Graham, N.C., to Cramer and Annie (Love) Stockard. She married Willard G. Marlette, also from Graham, in 1948. In 1955, the couple moved to Florida, where they resided for the next 50 years, primarily in Satellite Beach and Ocala.
Betsy was a homemaker, then later worked as manager of their family's hobby store and as a restaurant hostess and bookkeeper. In the 1970s, while working in Cape Canaveral during the height of the space program, she met many of the era’s famous astronauts and news reporters.
In 2005, she and Willard relocated to Coeur d’Alene to be near their son and his family. They were married for 64 years when Willard died in Coeur d’Alene in 2012.
Betsy is survived by her son, Bobby Marlette, and his wife, Cynthia; daughter Cynthia Marlette-Adams and her husband, Randy Adams, of Annapolis, Md.; grandchildren Laura (Steve) Boycourt, Steven Adams and Amanda (Danny) Ament; and great-grandchildren Amelia, Abigail, Emmy and Dante.
Betsy was preceded in death by her husband, Willard, her brother, Robert C. Stockard, who died in the Korean War, and her parents.
Always ready for a new adventure, Betsy loved meeting and talking to people wherever she went. She will be remembered for her friendliness, ever-present smile, charming southern accent, impeccable fashion sense and shining green eyes. We will miss you, mom, grandma and great-grandma.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at the Orchard Ridge Senior Living Chapel, 702 N. Highway 95, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814. Yates Funeral Home is handling the final arrangements. Please visit Betsy’s memorial and sign her online guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
