Kootenai Clinic announced the grand opening of its new Maternal Fetal Medicine location, dedicated to providing exceptional care for expectant mothers and their babies.

Maternal Fetal Medicine plays a crucial role in supporting high-risk pregnancies and ensuring the health and well-being of both mother and child, a press release said. The expanded clinic will feature state-of-the-art equipment and specialized services tailored to meet the unique needs of expectant mothers facing complex medical conditions.

"We are proud to unveil our new Maternal Fetal Medicine location. This is one more example of how we are further enhancing our commitment to delivering compassionate and expert care to families in our community," said Jamie Smith, CEO of Kootenai Health. "This expansion enables us to provide comprehensive prenatal care, advanced diagnostics and personalized treatment plans to mothers and families.”

Jason Pates, M.D., Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist, emphasized the clinic's mission.

"Our goal is to ensure every mother receives the highest level of care throughout her pregnancy journey," he said. "This new clinic allows us to offer cutting-edge technology and a collaborative approach to managing complex pregnancies."

Brooke Lang, M.D., medical director of Kootenai Health’s Level III NICU, said the clinic opening on the heels of the NICU’s ability to now care for babies as young as 26 weeks gestation, shows the organization’s commitment to helping women achieve safe and comprehensive care.

"This expansion is another example of our commitment to providing needed maternal health care in northern Idaho. We are excited to provide a nurturing environment where mothers can feel supported and confident in their medical care," Lang said.
