Boys from Texas concert coming to Lake City Center

Local entertainer Rusty Jackson puts on a number of tribute shows and concerts that pay homage to particular artists or eras.

His latest creation is The Boys From Texas, a concert that will be held at 7 p.m. June 28 at Lake City Center.

In a June 6 news release, Jackson said he was thinking about how many great musical artists have come from the Lone Star State and he just felt like it was time to acknowledge that.

Ernest Tubb, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Kenny Rogers, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Kris Kristofferson and more all are "boys from Texas," Jackson said. His colleagues, Harry Batty, Brad Jeanes and Erick Johnson, will join him on stage to pay homage to these Texas greats.

Jackson has been bringing live music to the Lake City Center since 2019. The shows bring reasonably priced live concerts to the center, which benefits the nonprofit venue through facility rentals. Jackson said he wants to bring affordable live music to people in a comfortable, safe atmosphere and that's why they bring these shows to Lake City Center.

Boys From Texas tickets are available for $10 at the Lake City Center front desk or can be purchased at rustyjackson.com for $25.

In addition to performing over 150 shows a year, Jackson is also a co-founder and one of the directors of the Northwest Country Music Association. The NW-CMA engages in the promotion of live country music in all of the Northwestern states. When he's not performing, he keeps busy promoting and helping other artists live their dreams, too.

Lake City Center is at 1916 N. Lakewood Drive, Coeur d'Alene.
