LEGION BASEBALL: Northern Lakes sweeps Lewis-Clark
LEWISTON — Grant Allaway had three hits and four RBIs for Northern Lakes in a 17-6 win in the first game of a class A North Idaho League matchup with the Lewis-Clark Cubs at Harris Field on Tuesday.
In the nightcap, Caleb Mason hit a two-run double in the second inning for the Mountaineers, who totaled six runs in the frame en route to an 11-1 win to get the sweep.
“We swung the bats really well,” Northern Lakes coach Bryce Johnson said. “To have 30 hits in two games, we’re doing something well. The lower half of our lineup did a good job of getting guys in.”
In the opener, Allaway opened the scoring on an RBI single to score Mason in the top of the first inning. Allaway added a two-run double in the sixth inning to extend the Mountaineers’ lead to 14-6.
Cooper Lenz, Mason and James Moore had two RBIs each in the first game and Ethan Pecor and Moore scored three runs each for Northern Lakes.
Evan Shanley struck out four in 5.2 innings in the second game for Northern Lakes, which had two RBI games from Lenz, Jace Taylor and Pecor in the second game.
Northern Lakes (10-3) hosts the Camas Prairie Zephyrs on Thursday at Timberlake High’s John Shaffer Field at 1 p.m.
Lewis-Clark is 5-13-1.
