| June 18, 2024 1:00 AM

Rudolf “Rudy” Anton Marmon went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2024, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, at the age of 72.

Rudy was born Sept. 27, 1951, in Williston, N.D., to Melvin and Barbara Marmon. He grew up there with his brother Gil until the family moved to North Idaho in 1965. Rudy attended Immaculate Heart of Mary High School in CDA, where he enjoyed playing baseball and football. He graduated in 1970. From high school, he went to Phoenix, Ariz., and attended trade school for accounting. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1971 and was honorably discharged for a knee injury. He attended North Idaho College in 1972. There, he met the love of his life, Alice Louise Marmon. They were married in 1973 in Coeur d’Alene at St. Thomas Church. They moved to Dalton Gardens, where they raised their two children, Brenda and Tony.

Rudy worked various jobs. He worked for the Forest Service. He then worked for Comet in Spokane, where he manufactured semi-trailer doors. He worked as a sheet metal installer for many years for Parrott Mechanical, where he received his Journeyman’s card. HVAC became his career. He worked for a few other shops and then started his own business, Silver Lake Heating and Air, which he operated with his son-in-law, Scott Cook, for eight years.

He loved to travel with Alice. They would look for and photograph as much wildlife as they could on their trips. They took many road trips to Banff, Canada, and other places around the northwest. He enjoyed cooking and hunting. In his later years, he enjoyed golfing with his friend, Dave Marsh, his son, son-in-law and his two grandsons. Many good laughs were shared on these outings. He enjoyed old Westerns, especially Westerns starring John Wayne. He liked to joke and laugh. He was a social butterfly and never met a stranger. He would approach and talk to anyone who came into his circle of awareness. He attended North Country Chapel in Post Falls with Alice.

He was one of a kind, much loved and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by daughter Brenda Cook and husband Scott, son Tony Marmon and wife Gwen, grandsons Zach Cook and Vincent Marmon, and wife Shianne. Great-grandchildren Brynlee and Knoxon. He is also survived by his brother, Gil Marmon, and Val, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his wife, Alice.

Services will be held at the English Funeral Chapel at 1133 N. Fourth St. in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, at 10 a.m. June 21, 2024. Please view and sign Rudy's online guestbook at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
