Thomas 'Tom' Johnson, 77

| June 16, 2024 1:00 AM

Thomas "Tom" Johnson died peacefully on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, with his wife, Susie, by his side.

Tom was born in 1946 to Ralph and Marguerite Johnson in Coeur d'Alene. He is survived by two sisters, Beverly and Lynn, and a brother, Bill. Tom has a son, Daren, his wife, Sara, and their daughter, Ella. He was also close with his stepsons, Aaron and his wife, Stephanie, and his son, Timber, and Jason and his wife, Nanci, and their sons, Lochan and Kilian. He has numerous nieces and nephews.

Tom joined the Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed overseas.

He loved the outdoors, golfing and camping on the "Moyie" River. Tom was a charter member of the original Bud Bunch, a charitable organization. They enjoyed many outings, including fishing, hydroplane races and golf. The Bud Bunch motto was ”stamp out thirst and promote goodwill." Tom was a fan of NASCAR and Jeff Gordon or whoever was driving a Chevrolet. He cheered loudly for his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. There was always a funny story to be told by Tom or about him.

Tom and Susie were married in 2000 and spent 10 years in Lake Havasu City during the Idaho cold winters.

Tom was a Coeur d'Alene local and had many lifelong friends. He worked for LePard and Frame Surveyors. He retired in 2005 following a 23-year career at Kootenai Electric.

A memorial celebration is planned at the English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene on July 20 at 11 a.m., with coffee and cookies to follow. In lieu of flowers, you can donate to the Schneidmiller Hospice House.
