Kastens joins football staff

at Central Washington

The Central Washington football team announced Alex Kastens as its new offensive line coach.

Kastens, a Coeur d'Alene High product, joins the Wildcat staff after having served most recently as an assistant football coach and the offensive line coach for William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. where he spent the previous two seasons. He earned the title of Assistant Football Coach on February 20, 2022, after his first season with the Cardinals.

Prior to joining the Cardinals, Kastens was the defensive line coach at the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D. for one season. At UMary, Kastens helped oversee a doubled win total, a defensive line that decreased opponents rushing yards by over 50 yards per game, and one All-NSIC Second Team honoree.

Before being apart of the Marauders staff, Kastens spent five seasons at his alma mater Carroll College (Mont.) coaching the offensive and defensive lines as well as the tight ends. He also served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach during his time at Carroll. Kastens coached a trio of All-Conference performers and helped an offensive line that finished first in the Frontier Conference and tenth nationally in the fewest sacks allowed.

Kastens earned his bachelor's degree in history and political science from Carroll College in 2015. He was a two-year captain and three-year starter at CC earning two First Team All-Conference honors in 2013 and 2014 and earned an Academic All-Conference selection in 2014.
