NO LEAVES: Don’t worry just yet

What’s wrong with my tree? It’s June and there are no leaves, some leaves or sporadic new growth. Don’t be in hurry to remove it. Over the last 7-8 years, I’ve noticed this and many plants recover and don’t do it again. Seems extreme winter temperatures fluctuations cause this. The best way I can explain this is what I would call a weather-induced coma. By midsummer it should be apparent what the plant’s status is. To a lesser extent, I’ve observed this in deciduous shrubs.
