KROC CENTER: Love your neighbor

| June 9, 2024 1:00 AM

We are deeply troubled by the racial harassment recently experienced by Tribal school children at McEuen Park. We fully support the message Chairman Allan conveyed in response, emphasizing that “respect for all people must be a foundational principle of our community.” While there may be debates about free speech and rights, it is never acceptable to show a lack of human decency and community civility.

Every year, The Kroc Center chooses a foundational scripture to guide our mission, staff engagement, and member experience. Mark 12:30-31 states, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” The second is this: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” We hope that all members of our community will live by these principles.

The Salvation Army Kroc Center and its leadership team stand with Chairman Allan and our friends of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe in opposing bigotry, racism, and all forms of discrimination. We refuse to stay silent in the face of racial aggression.
