PRIDE: Truth isn’t relative

| June 5, 2024 1:00 AM

It’s that time of year again when Pride events come into full bloom. Such displays are fundamentally about promoting a worldview — relativism. What’s marketed as: “Love,” “Tolerance,” “Inclusiveness,” etc., masks an underlying force to accept relativistic philosophical ideas. For those of an opposing absolute truth worldview, such exhibitions, couched behind emotionally charged words, are an affront to what is held dear — Truth.

By its very nature, relativism is self-refuting. Person A’s (relativistic) ‘truth,’ being personal, cannot be expected to be embraced by Person B since B’s ‘truth’ may be different (and equally ‘valid’). Therefore, Person A should not push their ‘truth’ on B under relativism. That extends to sexual lifestyle choices as well, yet this breech of relativism is exactly what we are witnessing each June.

If, however, Truth is of an absolute nature, then its application is universal — persons A & B have the choice to accept/reject Truth due to free will, but it is the same Truth regardless. Absolutism implies there is a moral Law Giver — God. The ultimate expression of Love for Person B (absolute truth supporter) is to share that Truth with Person A because there are consequences for violating absolute laws.

Thankfully, the moral Law Giver has provided a means of escaping our just penalty through Jesus’ death. Jesus is LOVE in its truest form. Pride comes before a fall; true Love picks up the pieces and heals us if we choose to accept His love, but we do not define the terms. Absolute Truth is not tolerant of immorality as that would be contradictory and the opposite of Love. “Come, let us reason together…”
