| June 5, 2024 1:00 AM

Fairel Wideen, 78, of Post Falls, passed away peacefully May 17.

Fairel was born May 26, 1945, to Frieda and AR Wall in Fontana, Calif., after graduating from Fontana High School in 1963. Fairel worked as a bank teller and secretary for San Bernardino County Mental Health. In 1966, she met the love of her life, Chuck Wideen, and they wed in 1967, going on to have two children, Chip and Shelley.

Fairel enjoyed a 25-year career at the Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Fontana in several different positions, including unit secretary, psychiatric social clerk, outpatient medical assistant and administrative secretary for psychiatry.

Fairel dedicated her life to being a fantastic wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known for her sweet nature and fun personality. She was an excellent cook and homemaker and always knew the right thing to say. Fairel was always encouraging her loved ones, whether it was supporting Chuck with his many dreams and goals or encouraging her children and grandchildren to complete their higher educations and career aspirations. Fairel was our constant cheerleader and supporter.

Fairel loved to travel with her husband in their motorhome, visiting every U.S. State, as well as parts of Canada and Mexico. She also traveled to Australia several times and toured Ireland with her husband for their 50th anniversary. Fairel had many hobbies she perfected over the years, such as bowling and shooting traps and skeets. She enjoyed baking and canning food, and she loved sewing and crafts. However, Fairel's favorite pastimes were playing cards and reading books, especially crime and mystery novels. Fairel enjoyed socializing and was a member of several groups and clubs. After retirement, she regularly volunteered at the Post Falls Library in the library's used book and gift store, Twice Told Tales, where proceeds from the store were used for summer activities for children.

Fairel was preceded in death by her husband Chuck, her parents Frieda and AR, and her brothers, John and Drew.

There will be a service at 11 a.m. June 22, 2024, at Bell Tower Funeral Home, Post Falls, followed by a short ceremony at Evergreen Cemetery, Post Falls, for the internment. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to "Twice Told Tales" Friends of the Post Falls Library, 821 North Spokane St., Post Falls, ID 83854.
