Shelley Kay Holtz-Gurganus, 61

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Shelley Kay Holtz-Gurganus, a cherished mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and beloved community member. Shelley was born June 16, 1962, and passed away in her home May 22, 2024.

Shelley was one of seven children born to Harold and Rosemary Measel. Her parents and siblings, Ruth, Kris, and Danny, predeceased her. She is survived by her siblings, Hal and his wife, Carol, and Colleen and her husband, Rob, and Richard.

Shelley is survived by her loving husband, Jack. Together, they blended their families with great care. Shelley is survived by five children. She was the proud mother of Kara and Christopher, and she embraced Jack’s daughters, Kelly, Sally and Holly, as her own, creating a strong and united family. Shelley is also survived by many others who called her mom. 

Shelley and Jack were blessed with 11 grandchildren: Ali, TJ, Tyler, Drake, Indica, Jayden, Madison, Scott, Josh, Jack and Arleigh, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her legacy of nurturing will live on through these generations. 

In this time of grief, we hold onto the nurturing and softness that Shelley embodied. Our hearts are heavy, but we find solace in the memories of her love and the strong bonds she created. 

A memorial service to honor Shelley’s life and legacy will be held Sunday, June 2, for family and friends at the Edgemere Grange, 3273 Bandy Rd., Priest River, Idaho. We invite all who knew and loved Shelley to join us in celebrating her beautiful life and the indelible mark she left on our hearts.
