Idaho's Green named chair of Big Sky Presidents' Council

The Presidents' Council of the Big Sky Conference unanimously elected University of Idaho President C. Scott Green as its next chair during the league's annual spring meetings, which concluded on Thursday in Ogden, Utah.

Green, whose two-year term as chair begins on July 1, succeeds Weber State president Brad Mortensen. Green has served as vice chair during the 2023-24 academic year.

Green, who took office as the 19th president of the University of Idaho on July 1, 2019, was born in Moscow, and is a third-generation Vandal. His grandfather, Dr. Leon G. Green, played football for the Vandals from 1934-36 and later served as the university's athletic director from 1973-78, during which time he raised money and directed the construction of the P1FCU Kibbie Dome.

In addition to his degree from the University of Idaho, President Green went on to attend Harvard Business School, from where he received a Master of Business Administration.

Green will be joined on the Big Sky's Presidents' Council Executive Committee by University of Montana President Seth Bodnar, who was elected as the Vice Chair, and Mortensen, who will remain for two more years on the committee as the immediate past chair.
