• SOFTBALL

The Coeur d’Alene Crush 14U softball team defeated the Montana Freedom of Billings 10-8 in 8 innings to win the 30-team Western National Championship on Sunday at the Meadowdale Playfields in Lynnwood, Wash.

Jenna Davenport, Maddy Pratt went 2 for 4 and Olivia Watt went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored in the title game for the Crush.

Madeline Peterson went 3 for 4 and had three RBIs for the Crush in a 14-8 win over the Sun Dodgers of Yakima, Wash., in the semifinals.

The team is made up of players from Coeur d’Alene, Lake City, Post Falls and Lakeland High.

• TRACK AND FIELD

Cobe Cameron and Giovanni Carlino, both rising seniors at Post Falls High, competed for the Spokane Speed Academy at the USATF National Junior Olympic meet at Texas A&M in College Station last week.

Both Cameron and Carlino qualified for the 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay, finishing fifth in the 4x400 finals in 3 minutes, 15.97 seconds to earn All-American honors.

The squad finished the prelims with a time of 3:12.32 to qualify.
