Lois Sauberan, 81
Lois Sauberan joined God in Heaven on July 20, 2024, at the age of 81. Lois was born Sept. 20, 1942, in Lincoln, Neb. Later, she moved to the southwest part of the country and lived in California for many years with her daughter, Cheri, where she met her husband, Lloyd, in 1974. They were married July 23, 1976, in California, moving to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in February 1977.
Lois quickly became a well-known and adored member of the community when she opened The Sub Shop and Deli in Coeur d’Alene with various locations, as well as working at the North Idaho Fair for many years. Lois decided to hang up her sub apron and join the school district to connect with her love of kids, and she became the kitchen manager at Lakes Middle School. Known and loved by many in the community as “Lunch Lady Lois,” famous for her giant chocolate chip cookies, giving heart and quick wit, serving kids lunch and love for over 20 years.
After retiring from Lakes, Lois and her husband traveled to many locations, spent many summers on the St. Joe River and wintered in Arizona for many years. Passionate members of Real Life Ministries for over 20 years, volunteering and connecting with many members.
Lois is missed by her loving husband, five children, 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, joining one grandson in Heaven.
A memorial service will be held for Lois at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene.
