Kari Ann McKenzie, 59
May 29, 1965 — June 6, 2024
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my loving wife of 26 years, Kari Ann McKenzie (Hatch, Luoto), from a long seven-year battle with cancer.
Kari was born in Portland, Ore., where she graduated from Tigard High School. She was a dedicated waitress at Davidsons, where she established many lasting relationships with the regulars. She later met her amazing husband, Stephen McKenzie. She then moved to Post Falls, Idaho, where she got married and started working at Templin’s Inn, Rustlers Roost, and then the Olive Garden, where she worked for 21 years. We extend a huge thank you to the Olive Garden community, who provided Kari with much love and support during her battle with cancer, allowing her to come and go through treatment.
Kari loved to be outside and was passionate about gardening, tending to her birdhouses and flowers. She was well known amongst family and friends for her famous Christmas and Super Bowl parties. Kari had a heart of gold, with an infectious laugh and smile. She was a loving and caring wife and an incredible mother to her children.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sharon, and father Lynn Hatch as well as in-laws Zoell and Dennis McKenzie. Kari is survived by her loving husband, Stephen; three grown children Marcus, Kristi and Grayce, with granddaughter Evelyn; two brothers Greg and Lynn Jr. (Frieda); and niece Kaylee and nephew Josh.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the graveside and celebration of life Aug. 10, 2024. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery, 2834 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, Idaho, followed by the celebration of life at 3 p.m. at the Prairie Falls Golf Course, 3200 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, Idaho.
