Approximately 365 Avista electric customers in Harrison and the surrounding area will experience a planned power outage on Tuesday, August 6, according to a press release from Avista. The four-hour planned outage will start at 8:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m.

Impacted customers will be notified. During the outage, traffic will be reduced to one lane on Highway 97, and traffic control will be in place in the area.

Avista contract crews will be working to replace wooden power poles with steel power poles in the area as part of the ongoing grid-hardening efforts to strengthen electric infrastructure, especially in fire-prone areas. Avista is continually updating equipment and infrastructure to increase the safety and reliability of its system.
