LEGION BASEBALL: Lums knock out Lewis-Clark in AA tourney

POCATELLO — Nolan Christ and Charlie Dixon drove in two runs each for the second-seeded Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen, who fought off elimination to beat the fourth-seeded Lewis-Clark Twins 8-7 in a loser-out game in the state AA American Legion baseball tournament at Halliwell Park on Friday.
Coeur d’Alene, which led 5-0 after four innings, held on late after Lewis-Clark scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 6-6.
Owen Mangini scored on a fielder's choice to make it 7-6 Coeur d’Alene, then Christ followed with an RBI single to score Ty Shepard to make it 8-6.
Lewis-Clark put the tying run on second base before Lums pitcher got a ground out to end the game.
Coeur d’Alene (21-15) will face Twin Falls or Pocatello today in a loser-out game.
Both Twin Falls and Pocatello are unbeaten in tournament play.
Earlier, Travis Usdrowski and Shepard drove in two runs each for Coeur d’Alene in a 9-4 loss to defending champion Pocatello.
Lewis-Clark finished 16-23.
