Glenn Charles Parker, 91

| July 27, 2024 1:00 AM

Glenn Charles Parker died unexpectedly July 4, 2024. He was born July 6, 1932, and died two days shy of his 92nd birthday.

Glenn was born in Los Angeles, Calif., to Charles and Frances (Jessen) Parker. He was a firstborn son, followed 15 months later by a brother, Roy. Tragically, their mother, Frances, was killed in a car accident when Glenn was a baby and his brother was an infant. Eventually, Glenn’s father, Charlie, remarried Ileane Burnham. Together, they raised the two boys.

Glenn graduated from Venice High School in 1950 in Los Angeles. He married his high school sweetheart, Donna Howe, in 1952. They had two children, David Glenn Parker and Carol Jean Parker. Glenn became a Los Angeles firefighter in the 1950s. He worked on Sunset Boulevard, near the Pacific Coast Highway (the Sunset Strip) and was an engineer for over 30 years. In 1964, Glenn, Donna and the children moved out of LA to Camarillo, Calif., in Ventura County. This is where they lived most of their lives. Glenn was a huge Dodgers fan and played softball in the firefighter leagues. Glenn and Donna divorced after 14 years of marriage.

In 1967, Glenn married Carol Lee Miller, who brought her two children into the family, Sharon Lee Miller and Steven Robert Miller. In 1968, they welcomed a son, John Charles Parker. Glenn was a devout Christian and served his church as a deacon in California. When Glenn’s brother, Roy, died in the 1980s, he and his wife, Carol, took in Roy’s two children, Roy and Wendy Parker, and raised them. Glenn and Carol were married until Carol’s death in 2012.

In June 2013, Glenn married Mary Constance Barner, “Connie.” Connie was the joy of his life. They had 11 wonderful years together, traveling to the Oregon Coast and Arizona every year. Connie has two adult children: James Barner of Mesa, Ariz., and Chrissie (Barner) Schreindl of Athol, Idaho. When Glenn and Connie realized they each had a daughter in Idaho, they soon moved to Hayden.

Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Roy, his son, David, and his second wife, Carol. Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Connie, of Hayden, Idaho, his daughter, Carol (Jim) Shanley of Hauser Lake, Idaho, and their five sons: Jason, Adam, Kevin, Kyle and Darin. His son, John (Christine) Parker of Sun City, Ariz., and their three children: Julia, Elisa and Jack. Nephew and niece Roy and Wendy Parker. Two stepdaughters, two stepsons, many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Glenn was a wonderful husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and mentor. He will be missed immensely. A family celebration of life will take place, in the near future, at North Country Chapel in Post Falls, Idaho.
