FAIRGROUNDS: Time for them to move
I’d say no, their use is obsolete for the site. Give them a 10-year renewal which should be sufficient to secure a more suitable, less valuable site. 81 acres. How many days a year are they using the entire or even half the site? That site has got to be worth $50,000,000 and should get at least a 5% return, or $2,500,000 per year, and they should be paying any taxes, insurance, maintenance and utilities. Are they? What is the current ground rent? Proposed new rent? Rent increases? Why aren’t we being told? That land belongs to the citizens of Kootenai County not the county commissioners. Are we being represented or is this another insiders dealing with insiders deal? Like the sale of surplus land next to Hayden elementary. If they won’t tell you the lease terms then it’s an insider deal. The Press is supposed to be the peoples watch dog, our advocate. Are you watching?
