Art on the Green opens Aug. 2; 2024 entertainment schedule announced

| July 26, 2024 1:00 AM

The 56th annual Art on the Green will fill the North Idaho College grounds with colorful creations, eclectic music and more from 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2 through Aug. 4.

Many favorites will return this year, as well as new offerings. In addition to over 100 booth artists, NIC's Aspiring Artists and seven youth booths for those 18 and younger, the festival will offer free entertainment all weekend, including art- and music-based kids entertainment activities. For the adults, cool drinks will be served at the craft beer and wine tent.

This year's artists will come from 11 different states and 40 new artists will join the fun.

Visit the Juried Art Show and Clothesline Art Sale in the big tent by the rose garden on the south end of the festival. An outdoor art gallery of juried art works, the Juried Art Show displays pieces selected by a panel of judges. Works include painting, photography, glass, fiber, student art, pottery and more. The clothesline sale includes art priced from $1 to $95 created by local artists. Be sure to vote for the People’s Choice Award for favorite Juried Show entries. New this year is the People’s Choice Award for favorite Art Booth. Voting boxes will be in the juried show tent.

Art projects will be found in the Children's Art Garden each day. Activities include tie dye from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday; sun catchers from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday; and watercolor fans from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Face painting will be available all weekend.

The volunteer-run food court will feature festival favorite German sausage, corn on the cob, ice cream, cold beverages and more. New food trucks will include Meltz Gourmet Grilled Cheese, joMi's coffee, Birdie’s Pies and Mangia Catering. Proceeds support the festival as well as the community projects carried out each year by Citizens' Council for the Arts and Art on the Green.

Volunteers make Art on the Green possible. Volunteers contribute an estimated 5,000 hours planning the festival during the year. The week of the festival will have 300-plus volunteers working to support the different areas.

All profits from the festival are used to support community projects such as grants to local art teachers for supplies, art for a local school each year (this year it is going to Ramsey Magnet School of Science) and also to support next year's festival.
