Brian Douglas Halfhide, 72

Brian Douglas Halfhide, 72, of Dalton Gardens, Idaho, flew into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 10, 2024. Brian was born July 27, 1951, in Spokane, Wash., to Rollo and Dolores (Dykeman) Halfhide.

Brian grew up in Coeur d’Alene. After graduating from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1969, he attended Spokane Community College on a football scholarship. He married Wendy Brainard in 1970. They were married 39 years before her death in 2009.

He served in the Army from 1971 to 1973 in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and a Bronze Star Medal. Brian loved the USA with all of his heart.

Prior to retirement, Brian worked in construction as a supervisor and finish carpenter. His hobbies included hunting with bow and rifle, camping, and fishing. He also enjoyed watching football and basketball on TV and was an avid reader.

In 2011, Brian married Elizabeth (Betty Jo Murdoch) Jacobsen, with whom he had attended high school. 

Brian is survived by his wife; his son, Jeff Halfhide (Phoebe) of Spokane; daughters Jenny Halfhide of Spokane, and JoAnne Cordova (Mike) of Coeur d’Alene; stepdaughter Jill Hazen (Miah) of Meridian, Idaho; stepson Luke Jacobsen (Kassy) of Boise, Idaho; Brian’s sister, Diane Johnson (Danny) of Coeur d’Alene; his brother, Alvin Halfhide of Coeur d’Alene; seven grandchildren and five step-grandchildren. Brian is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and his brother, Mark Halfhide.

Brian loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and would like to remind you that, “Only one life, ‘twill soon be past. Only what’s done for Christ will last.” C.T. Studd
