Free music coming to neighborhood parks

| July 19, 2024 1:00 AM

Vocalists Laura Sable and Mark Cotter, accompanied by pianist Bill Wiemuth, will bring live music to local parks in Coeur d'Alene.

The first performance will be at 5:30 p.m. July 29 at G. O. Phippeny Park, 827 N. Eighth St. The second will be held at 5:30 p.m. July 30 at Shadduck Lane Park, 1875 E. Shadduck Lane.

The programs will feature a mix of jazz and American songbook favorites from Broadway to country and everything in between. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Sable and Cotter have performed in Ellen Travolta's Christmas shows at The Coeur d'Alene Resort and both have extensive resumes in the entertainment world, including performing aboard cruise ships.

The concerts are sponsored by the Jeanne E. Holmberg Trust. Holmberg asked in her will that her bequest go to bringing music and dance to the Coeur d'Alene area. She and her husband, Ralph, ran a printing business and were active in civic affairs, as well as being among Art on the Green founders.
