Donald D. Johnson, 71

Donald D. Johnson, 71, of Post Falls, went to the Happy Hunting Place in the Sky on June 12, 2024. Don was born May 24, 1953, to Wayne and Jerine Johnson in Ione, Wash. Don had five siblings: Linda Franks, Chris Johnson, John Johnson, Ruth Jaeger and Mike Johnson. Don married his wife, Susan Johnson, on Aug. 1, 1992. Don had five children: Sarah (Chad) Jensen, Isaiah and Joe Johnson, Marvin (Heidi) Cunningham, Paul (Janet) Cunningham, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Don loved hunting dogs, fishing, camping as well as woodwork, and canning foods such as pickles, jams, salsa and beets. He enjoyed gardening and all animals. Don worked in mines, as a logger and in the lumber mills. 

Don is preceded in death by his father and mother, Wayne and Jerine, stepfather Fred Dupere, stepmother Bernice Johnson, brother John, nephews Chris Franks and Nick and granddaughter Megan Cunningham.

Don will be dearly missed by family and friends. 

A celebration of life will be Saturday, Aug. 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the American Legion in Post Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Hospice of North Idaho, 2290 W. Prairie Coeur d’Alene, or any animal shelter.
