    Courtesy photo The boys age 13-14 4x400-meter relay team from the Coeur d'Alene-based North Idaho Blaze Track Club finished second at the recent Region 13 Championships (Washington, Oregon, Idaho) at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Ore., in 4 minutes, 1.33 seconds. That qualified the team for the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field championships July 22-28 in College Station, Texas. Hood Community College in Gresham, Ore., with a jump of 4 feet, 11 inches. That qualified her for the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field championships July 22-28 in College Station, Texas.

    Courtesy photo The North Idaho Storm AAU varsity boys basketball team, playing under the name “Lakeland Storm,” won the championship of the Summer Slam Tournament this past weekend in Spokane Valley. The Storm went 6-0, beating Catch Spokane Fury 75-42, Priest River 55-47 and Pomeroy 71-36 to win their pool. In the quarterfinals the Storm beat East Valley 61-41. In the semifinals the Storm beat Glacier of Montana 52-29. In the championship game the Storm beat Colfax 52-40.
