Share your North Idaho memories with us

The Polka Dot Cafe Tavern. The Fish Inn. The Wilma Theatre. The Ninth Street bike jumps. The 12th World Scout Jamboree at Farragut State Park. The Cove Bowl. Topper Too. Playland Pier.

Did you have the best-ever Fourth of July party at a family home in the Fort Grounds when you were a kid? Do you have tales to tell of winters when piles of snow were taller than you as you walked to Sherman Elementary School? What about those summers driving on the Dike Road to gather with friends for bonfires on the beach?

Places and events of the past made North Idaho what it is today. As things are so quickly changing, we want to capture those memories before they are forgotten. In an upcoming series that will be called "North Idaho Memories," we hope to revisit places that no longer exist and transport our readers back to an era before North Idaho became the bustling, growing place it is today.

Send your North Idaho memories and photos to Devin Weeks, dweeks@cdapress.com. Please provide information with any photos you send: who is in them, when and where were they taken and a brief description of what is happening in the photo. Pieces should be no more than 500 words. Please include names of those submitting the memories and how long North Idaho has been or was your home.

Longtime residents have a treasure trove of stories about the way things used to be. We hope you'll share those gems with us.
