Marvin Williams, 79

| July 17, 2024 1:00 AM

Marvin Lee Williams of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed peacefully at home with family June 14, 2024.

Marvin was born in Wallace, Idaho, to Billie Ridenour (Williams) and Glenn LeRoy Williams Sr., on Oct. 22, 1944. He grew up in Wallace, spending time engaged in sports, and was a member of the Order of DeMolay. Marvin spent several years in Moscow, Idaho, studying and apprenticing, and later moved to the Coeur d’Alene area. He married Karen June Hamer of Osburn, Idaho, late in the summer of 1969. They lived in Coeur d’Alene and had two children, Jessica and Blake. Prior to marring, Marvin served honorably in the U.S. Navy from October 1962 through October 1968; sea duty was aboard the USS Coral Sea as a Radioman. Soon after discharge, he participated in a Carpentry course in Moscow and went on to be a Journeyman in the Carpenters Local 59 of Spokane.  He worked as a carpenter until he retired in 2002.

Marvin’s hobbies included building a new log cabin home with his wife, Karen, sailing on Lake Coeur d’Alene, snow skiing — alpine and cross-country — and camping and fishing with family and friends.

Marvin is preceded in death by his mother, Billie, his father, Glenn, his brother, Glenn L. Williams Jr., and nephew Mike Williams. Marvin is survived by his two children, daughter Jessica Socquet and son Blake Williams of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and his sister, Dora Ridenour of Worland, Wyo. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Chase and Alexa Socquet and Kylen Williams, and many other family and friends.
