LIBRARIES: Get rid of woke leftist oligarchs
It seems that the Coeur d’Alene Press has decided to become a bully pulpit for those who oppose the current Community Library Network board majority.
Ounce for ounce, my guess is that perhaps triple the ink has been spent bashing the conservative trustees, rather than defending them. A succession of pieces by the trio I affectionately call the “Critical Curmudgeons” (Raffee, Lippert and Burkett) drip with hyperbole, misinformation and spite. My assumption is that The Press does not fact check such submissions?
As a taxpayer who voted with the community to replace the former CLN trustees, reading such vitriol against those who were elected reflects on me, and everyone who voted likewise. I am old enough to remember learning in school that journalists should be unbiased. Update me: is that “old news?”
To be exact, there is not one book in the library which cannot be checked out by a parent and given to his or her minor child. Those who repeat the mantra “let the parents decide” should have no problem with this.
When loudmouth activists complain about the “chaos” at CLN, what they actually mean is this: The leftist oligarchs have sat like fat cats on every local government board for decades, infiltrating them with woke rot, and now that the community is starting to push back and restore order, they don’t like it.
Power is an intoxicating drug.
