Christine Marie Sloane, 79

| July 17, 2024 1:00 AM

Christine was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed away peacefully on the afternoon of July 3, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 79.

Christine was born in Alameda County, Calif., where she spent a great part of her life. She married young and had three children: Karyn, Melissa and Lonnie. Her first line of work was at the phone factory, where she met the love of her life, Ben Sloane. Together they explored all areas of California from the national parks to the opera. After retiring from the phone factory, she decided to give back to the community through elementary education in Oakland. Chris and Ben moved to Clear Lake, California, where she taught kindergarten and enjoyed her family time by the lake. When Ben passed away about 15 years ago, Christine moved to Hayden, Idaho, where she was able to volunteer at the public library and spend more time with her grandchildren.

Christine is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Marylin Guasco, and her husband, Ben. Christine is survived by her brother, Stephen Guasco, and his wife, Marie; Christine’s daughter, Karyn Fonseca, and her husband, Dave; Christine’s daughter, Melissa Denton, and her husband, David; and Christine’s son, Lonnie Dawe, and his wife, Joy. Karyn and Dave have three children: Michelle and her husband, Brandon, with their two daughters, Julia and Emily, Nicholas and his wife, Courtney, with their daughter, Halle, and Alexander. Lonnie and Joy have four children: Zac, Winter and her daughter, Maisyn, Skylar and his wife, Rylee, and Micah.

Christine’s biggest passion was her time and experiences with her family. She loved cooking Sunday dinners, which needed to be planned well in advance so she could make everything perfect. She enjoyed traveling far and wide, such as England, Egypt and Ireland, to name a few. She always had wonderful stories to tell of all these adventures. She also had a great affection for reading, especially children’s books which she lovingly passed along to the children of the family to continue her legacy and share the imagination. Christine was loved by many and will always be remembered as a woman who was dedicated to adventures, education, and her family.
