Chevy Ray Edmenson, 28

| July 13, 2024 1:00 AM

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chevy Ray Edmenson on June 29, 2024, at the much too young age of 28. Chevy was born in Lewiston, Idaho, to his parents, Micki and Jack, and was preceded in death by his brother, Cory Jack Edmenson. Chevy was a beloved son, grandson, nephew, cousin, boyfriend and loyal friend.

Little Chevy Ray was riding his bicycle with no training wheels by the age of 3, climbed on a motorcycle at 4 and a half, and didn't get off again until the tragic passing of a fellow motocrosser and cherished friend. We pray now they are happily ripping through the skies together. His father told him that if he wanted to race, he had to be able to pick up his own bike and change his own oil, both of which he was doing at just 5 years old. Finding joy and freedom in the sport he loved, he shared many adventures on the track, creating lasting memories with friends and fellow riders. After many years of working side by side with his father on a wide variety of forklifts, equipment, motorcycles, RC cars, trucks, you name it, he could fix it. Chevy's skills and passion for mechanics developed into becoming a master in his field. His natural talent and dedication were admired by many.

Beyond his work, Chevy also enjoyed fishing, spending countless hours by the water, finding peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to cook and could quickly create an amazing meal out of the last remains in the cupboard. Chevy was shy, but those who knew him well enjoyed his quirky dark humor, sly side smile, his love for wild colorful clothes, and of course … his mullet.

His love for his family was immeasurable.

Chevy cherished his parents deeply, always expressing his gratitude for his father's wisdom and his mother's unwavering support and love. He was building an exciting future at a job he absolutely loved. He was excited to see what each day would bring, the accomplishment he was feeling, and a new family of friends that he had been welcomed into with open arms. He had a loving girlfriend, Rachel, and their dog, Sunday, who was always by his side.

Chevy will be remembered for his kind heart, his love of every animal and every child and every soft soul. He immersed himself in music for hours on end, listening to anything from Godsmack to Tennessee Ernie Ford to Young Gravy and spent lots of time perfecting his own perfectly goofy dance style. He was deeply empathic, he was adventurous, and he had unwavering dedication to those he loved. His legacy will live on in the memories of all who knew him. He will be missed endlessly.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Chevy's life at 1 p.m., Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Yates Funeral Home — Hayden Chapel (373 E. Hayden Ave. Hayden, ID 83835). Please visit Chevy’s online memorial and sign his guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
