MY TURN: Who should we blame, Democrats?
Marvin Miller paints a grim picture in a LTE on July 3. He says the "more perfect union" in our Constitution is "Humbug."
"Immigrants are coming across our border, babies are being murdered, young people mutilated, boys doing girls' sports, we're sabotaging Israel, adding trillions to our debt, filth in our libraries, millions living paycheck to paycheck, sky-high inflation, failed foreign policies, rampant crime, schools teaching our kids to hate each other, woke military. You'd swear he was in some communist or authoritarian country with no laws or justice system. If these things were all true, he would be. But they aren't true. He's exaggerating and posing half-truths and lies. He wants to blame Democrats because he thinks they have some hidden power of control. Hey, Congress still has two parties, two legislative vehicles to balance things. They don't always work so well, but it's the way it was set up. You don't hear farmers or storeowners, hotels complaining about immigrants. Most people coming across the border are looking for jobs. In spite of the "problem" we talk about, there still is a tremendous abundance of signs: "Help wanted" or "Now Hiring." It would appear we NEED the immigrants. As for those living "paycheck to paycheck," my family and I did that for many years, starting out from "raw recruit" working up to "seasoned performer," in our jobs.
These things have been going on in our democratic republic pretty much forever, since the freedoms and liberty are being utilized by virtually everyone, including giant companies, huge corporations and greedy entrepreneurs of all stripes. The two political parties have existed from the beginning, one conservative, one liberal, alternatingly trading off in power from time to time. The problems are there whichever party is in. It's Republicans. Blame Trump. It's Democrats. Blame Biden. Why blame? Well, the Republicans had four years with Mr. Trump a while back. The same problems with different denotations. Things didn't change because it was only four years, and then different names on the ones to blame. Nobody wants to blame the huge conglomerates of capitalistic corporations and even smaller companies for causing inflation by seeking more profits. Just blame whoever holds the job for which the "buck stops here." Our capitalistic system makes our country one of the richest in the world, but it's necessary to abide the problems its freedom and liberty include. We've no right to blame one person.
However, we do have the right to blame a Supreme Court that is clearly biased, controlled by a corrupt and glorified man whose three members he appointed tips the scale to conservative, for an entity that by the nature of its existence should be COMPLETELY IMPARTIAL in its decisions.
