FOURTH OF JULY: Creating a new treat

| July 10, 2024 1:00 AM

Hello, if you’re looking for a little local story from the 4th, I have one for you. My 4-year-old daughter Talea Ledford has been asking me for a couple months to make a summer pie. I asked her, “what is a summer pie?” She said, “It’s a pie with raspberries and strawberries and blueberries and blackberries and huckleberries in it!” So finally for Fourth of July she got to make her summer pie! She selected and measured all the berries and ingredients (the strawberries and raspberries she picked and the huckleberries her grandparents picked), stirred them and decided on hearts and stars to decorate the crust. It turned out perfect. And if you ask her if she liked her summer pie. She’d say “I love it!” The neighbor said it was the best berry pie he had ever tried and asked for the recipe. I have an adorable patriotic picture of her making the pie. Happy Fourth of July!
