LITTLE LEAGUE: District tournament action heating up

| July 5, 2024 1:05 AM

With a switch in tournament format and location, the Little League District 1 baseball tournaments boast play today in the 12U , 11U (age 9-11) and 10U (age 8-10) divisions.

All three tournaments are double-elimination, rather than pool play followed by a best-of-3 series for the district title.

The 12U tournament begins today with four games at Croffoot Park in Hayden — Lewiston vs. Hayden at 3 p.m., Post Falls vs. Silver Valley at 5:30, Coeur d’Alene vs. Lakeland at 5:30 and St. Maries vs. Sandpoint at 5:30.

Play continues with winners bracket games Saturday at Croffoot Park, and losers bracket games Saturday and Sunday at Croffoot.

Play then shifts to Airport Park in Lewiston for games July 12, 13 and 14, when the district champion will be crowned.

In 11U, play begins Saturday at Crofoot Park, with Hayden vs. Post Falls and Lewiston vs. Coeur d’Alene, both at noon. Play continues at Croffoot on Sunday and Wednesday, with the championship game on July 13 at Airport Park.

After a pair of games Wednesday, the 10U tournament resumes today with four games at Croffoot Park — Lakeland vs. Lewiston at 12:30 p.m., Post Falls vs. Hayden Black at 12:30, Sandpoint vs. Lewiston Purple at 3 and Coeur d’Alene Black vs. Coeur d’Alene Blue at 3.

Play continues at Croffoot with games Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday.

The tourney then shifts to Airport Park beginning next Friday, with the championship game scheduled for Sunday, July 14.

District champions in all three divisions advance to state the following weekend in Coeur d’Alene.
