Sheriff's Office Notable Calls
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office published the following notable calls that occurred between Jan. 26 and Jan. 28. The sheriff’s office describes this information as preliminary and subject to revision as investigations continue.
Jan. 26 – Deputies assisted probation with a possible scam call. It was reported that scammers were calling local sex offenders and advising them they had warrants and were offering to quash the warrant for money. An exchange was supposed to happen at a local business but the scammers never showed up.
Jan. 26 – Animal control responded to a report of two vicious pit bulls at a Hayden business charging customers and employees. The business owner ended up shooting one of the dogs and the other ran off. The injured animal was retrieved by animal control. The investigation is ongoing.
Jan. 26 – Deputies responded to a suicide threat call. It was reported by the reporting party that her mother was intoxicated and threatened to shot her dog and her herself. Deputies arrived on scene and were able to get the mother out of her RV. She was taken to Kootenai Health for a mental health evaluation.
Jan. 26 – Deputies responded to business in Hayden for an intoxicated female. It was reported the female was left at the business by her husband and she was upset about that. Before deputies arrived on scene, the female was able to get a ride home in a cab. The business was warned about over serving their patrons.
Jan. 27 – Deputies responded to the lobby of the jail and arrested a male for his warrant. The male was turning himself in on his DWP warrant.
Jan. 27 – Deputies responded to a report of a male and female arguing on the side of the road. It was also reported the female was covered in blood. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted both parties. The male half also had blood on his hands, which was a result of him punching the window of his truck due to the argument. The female was contacted and it was determined she had cut herself for attention in hopes to have the male return. The cuts were superficial and she had a history of doing this to herself. After the investigation it was determined the injuries sustained were all self-inflicted and no crimes has occurred. An incident report was completed.
Jan. 27 – Deputies responded to the Honeysuckle Boat Launch for a report of a suicidal female. Deputies arrived on scene and did not locate anyone. The surrounding area was checked and the female was not located. The reporting party called back and advised the female was at the boat launch but saw the deputies and left. The reporting party also advised the female was fine and had calmed down.
Jan. 27 – Deputies responded to a residence in Hayden for a citizen assist call. The reporting party advised her husband was intoxicated and threatened her. Deputies arrived on scene and learned the argument was over whether to order food from door dash or not. It was determined no crime had occurred and both parties agreed to separate of the night.
Jan. 27 – Deputies received a report of a vehicle stuck on the railroad tracks on Highway 54 in Athol. Idaho State Police were in the area and located the vehicle that had just gotten off the tracks. ISP attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle failed to yield initially, but eventually stopped after a short distance. Deputies arrived on scene and assisted ISP in detaining the male driver. The driver ignored commands and attempted to walk back to his vehicle. The male was tased by ISP and, after a brief scuffle, was taken into custody. ISP handled the arrest. No one was injured during the incident.
Jan. 28 – Deputies responded to a residence and arrested a male for his active warrants.
Jan. 28 – Deputies handled a theft report of a vehicle. The reporting party advised one of his company vans was stolen. The vehicle was entered into the national data base as a stolen vehicle and report was taken.
Jan. 28 – Deputies handled a runaway juvenile report. The juvenile decided to run away from the residence when he refused to do chores around the house. The area was checked by Deputies and family. The juvenile was eventually located at the Hayden Walmart.
Jan. 28 – Deputies responded to the area of Fernan Lake Road and the shooting range for a welfare check. The reporting party advised his wife was looking for their daughter in the area because she may be suicidal. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted the female and the mother. The female was upset that she lost her job and just wanted to time alone. She was released to her mother.
Jan. 28 – Deputies responded to an unwanted person call in the Post Falls area. One of the callers was identified and it was learned he had an active warrant out of Washington. The agency confirmed they would extradite the male and he was arrested by deputies when they arrived on scene. While transporting the male to the jail, the agency called back and advised they would not extradite the subject. Based on the new information, the male was released.
Jan. 28 – Deputies responded to a 911 disconnect call in the Athol area. On scene they contacted a male and female. The male was highly intoxicated. During the investigation it was learned the male battered the female. The male was issued a citation and the parties were separated for the night.
