PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lakeland rallies to win at Moscow in OT

MOSCOW — The Lakeland Hawks rallied from an eight-point deficit after three quarters to beat the Moscow Bears 47-42 in overtime in Inland Empire League play Saturday at Bear Den.

Sophomore Karstyn Kiefer and senior Payton Sterling each hit 3-pointers in overtime for Lakeland (8-8, 3-5 IEL), after the Hawks outscored Moscow (7-10, 0-7) 12-4 in the fourth quarter.

Landree Simon led all scorers with 13 points for Lakeland, which beat Moscow 56-44 on Monday in Rathdrum.

Lola Johns led Moscow with 12 points. The Bears managed just two field goals and seven points over the game’s last 12 minutes.

The win also wrapped up the No. 2 seed to the 4A Region 1 tournament for Lakeland, which will play host to Moscow in a loser-out first-round game Feb. 5 in Rathdrum.

Lakeland travels to Timberlake on Thursday.

Bailee Martin scored nine points, Brenna Elliott eight for St. Maries (3-13, 1-4), which travels to Priest River on Monday.
