GIRLS BASKETBALL

POST FALLS — Lake City won Friday’s Fight for the Fish game with Coeur d’Alene with an emphasis on inside scoring.

Four nights later, the Timberwolves shot down another Inland Empire League foe from the outside.

Lake City connected on 10 3-pointers — four by freshman Macy Murphey — and ran away from the Post Falls Trojans 83-47 on Tuesday night at The Arena.

Murphey finished with 18 points for Lake City (17-1, 6-0 IEL), which won its 12th straight game. Senior Sophia Zufelt added a pair of 3s and led the Timberwolves with 19 points. Avery Waddington had 14, Kamryn Pickford 12.

Lake City hit six 3s in the first half.

“We tried to take the close shots away, but then you take that away, they’ve got the weapons to hit you from the outside,” Post Falls coach Brian Hall said. “The first half we didn’t play very good defense on them; they kinda had their way.”

Brooklynn Brennan scored 19 points, Myckenzee Mitley 13 for Post Falls.

On Friday, Lake City is home vs. Lewiston, and Post Falls travels to Coeur d’Alene.

We didn’t come out to play at all in the third quarter, but they got after it in the fourth and made it interesting. We’re still looking for that four full quarters, but we played pretty well in three of the four.”
