Joan Katharine (Campbell) Ramsey, 82

| January 13, 2024 1:00 AM

Celebrating the life of Joan Katharine (Campbell) Ramsey.

We miss our traditionalist. Joan loved tradition in many ways. She loved doing things that made memories, whether it was eating popcorn every Sunday or leaving the “Santa” present out on Christmas Eve for the kids to see in the morning. She loved sending cards to everyone for all the holidays and was never late in sending them. She always seemed to know the perfect verse from the Bible to write on each card.

She loved to make sure that the home was welcoming and warm. She loved baking and of course making sure Gary, her husband, got the biggest cookie from the batch. She loved doing her crosswords, a tradition that she picked up from her father. She loved her friends and loved to connect with people. People were drawn to Joan, even strangers would start talking to her about some problem that had befallen them while she shopped at the grocery store.

Most of all, Joan loved the Lord, her personal Savior, and faithfully attended Bible Study Fellowship for many years, where she deepened her understanding of the Bible. Joan had a deep faith and believed the verse in 2 Corinthians 5:8 that says, “Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.”

Joan graduated from the 1962 class of Sacred Heart Nursing School, where she also worked as an RN.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gary Ramsey; her sister, Marilyn (Terry) Harwood; her brother, Gordon (Connie) Campbell; her three children, Brett (Wendy) Ramsey, Heidi (Allen) Bell, Molly (Chris) Childers; and six grandchildren, Grayson, Aidan, Silas, Kelsey, Amelia and Jonah.

The viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel (744 N. Fourth St. Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814). You are invited to a celebration of her life at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel. The family prefers memorial gifts in her name to be sent to UGM — Anna Ogden Hall (2828 W. Mallon Ave. Spokane, WA 99201).
