Richard 'Dick' Eugene LaFountain, 77

| January 10, 2024 1:00 AM

On Monday, Jan. 1, 2024. Richard “Dick” Eugene LaFountain, beloved husband, father and friend, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior. He was 77 years old. Richard was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, on Jan. 10, 1946, and graduated from Priest River High School in 1960. Richard served his country from 1960-1964 as a member of the U.S. Navy and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served and completed three tours. He attended North Idaho College, obtained an Electrician degree, and was later employed as an Industrial Electrician at Idaho Forestry Industries, IFI, for over 25 years.

Richard lived in the Northwest for the entirety of his life, where he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed nearly every outdoor activity that Idaho, Montana and the surrounding areas had to offer. He could be found capturing images, of all that the outdoors has to offer, with his trusty dog by his side. He spent his retirement in his shop that he built to collect and work on his beloved Ford Mustangs and was a member of the Comanchero’s and Phuddy Duddy’s car clubs.

Richard loved his family, and he was equally loved by them as well. He was surrounded by them even up to the end.  He is survived by his wife, Sharon, and his five children, Boyce McNaughton, Brenda LaFountain, Ace McNaughton, Christy Mueller and Angie Wilson. He had 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Jan. 13, 2024, at 1 p.m. at North Country Chapel. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Richard’s life.
