Peter Joseph Horvath, 76

Peter Joseph Horvath, 76, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away Jan. 3, 2024. He was born March 10, 1947, in San Francisco. Peter was a devoted husband to Patricia Horvath and a loving father to his children, Jon Horvath, Josh Horvath (Lacey) and Theresa Rawlins (Tom). He is survived by his brothers, Paul Horvath (Brenda) and Doug Horvath (Kim), and his sisters, Janet Horvath and Diana Avery (Collette). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kohl Horvath, Abigail Horvath, Taryn Horvath and Connor Rawlins, and six great-grandchildren. Peter was preceded in death by parents Peter and Betty Horvath and grandson Joseph West. 

Peter had a successful career with the California Department of Transportation, where he served as a senior supervising electrical engineer from 1966 to 2009. His expertise and dedication made a lasting impact on the transportation industry. 

Outside of his professional life, Peter had a passion for four-wheeling, rebuilding and driving hot rods and classic cars, and traveling. He found immense joy in watching his great-grandchildren play, cherishing every moment spent with them. 

In memory of Peter, contributions can be made to the following organizations: Hospice of North Idaho, California Association of Four-Wheel Drive Clubs (CA4WDC) Safety and Education Foundation, and the Parkinson’s Association of Northern California. These organizations were close to Peter’s heart, and any donations made in his honor would be greatly appreciated. 

Peter Joseph Horvath will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched. May his soul rest in peace.
