Judith Gray, 84

March 3, 1939 — Dec. 16, 2023

Judy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Above all else, she loved her family and friends.

After nearly a three-year battle with cancer, Judy passed away in her sleep in her bed, at home, as she wished. She was comforted in her last days by her husband, sons, grandkids and friends through their visits and their wonderful outpouring of love, which surrounded her and made her feel blessed.  

Judy’s sons and their families were the focus of her life. Her non-stop love and willingness to work as hard as she could to raise them into the good men they became was a great source of pride for her. All the ferrying them to sporting events and practices paid off. Her love for her sons was tremendous, and she enjoyed watching them grow and become good family men.  

Judy worked many years as a hairdresser in Wallace and Osburn, making friends, sharing laughs with those who knew her, and eventually retiring from owning her beauty shop.

Judy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jim, her brother, Leroy Viche (Jeannie) of Casa Grande, Ariz., sons Larry McPheters (Lisa) of Anchorage, Alaska, Ron McPheters (Julene) of St. Regis, Mont., and Gary McPheters (Shanna) of Logandale, Nev., as well as grandchildren Joshua, Katie, Brodie, Aaron (Kendra), Allie, and Dan, and great-grandson Noah McPheters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Alvera Viche, brother Brian Viche, granddaughter Brooke McPheters, and great-grandson Kade Thomas McPheters.

Judy is dearly missed by her family and all who knew her, an amazing testament to the special loving person she was.  

During her illness, Judy and her family received outstanding support along with kind and loving care from Elite Home Hospice and Open Arms Home Care, both of Clarkston, Wash. They treated her like family and she touched the hearts of her caregivers.

Family services will be held in May over Memorial Day weekend in Superior, Mont. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in honor of Judy to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org.
