COEUR d’ALENE — Kootenai County Commissioner Leslie Duncan is running for another term on the Board of County Commissioners.

Currently in her second term, Duncan occupies the District 3 seat.

“If reelected as county commissioner, I’ll continue to help keep local government in its proper role protecting life, liberty and property,” Duncan said in a news release. “It’s in everyone’s best interest and the citizens of Kootenai County know it.”

Duncan said she has consistently promoted the platform of limited government, as well as property rights. She also said her efforts to improve Kootenai County’s justice infrastructure have been successful.

“I believe our citizens expect justice to be served properly and fully in Kootenai County,” she said. “That means enforcement of the law, a strong public defense and an equally strong prosecution of violators. All are vital to the fair administration of justice.”

In a news release, Duncan said her vision is “to continue working for the best benefit of her constituency.”

“Building and preserving the strong sense of community we have here in Kootenai County requires paying attention and putting in the effort,” she said. “It’s what we love about living here and our way of life isn’t by accident. If reelected, I will never stop contending for our common interests that improve our high quality of life.”

Candidate filing for the May 21 primary elections begins March 4 and runs through March 15.
