Sheriff's Office Notable Calls

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office published the following notable calls that occurred between Feb. 16 and Feb. 18. The sheriff’s office describes this information as preliminary and subject to revision as investigations continue.

Feb. 16 – A K-9 deputy assisted Post Falls police with a traffic stop were drugs were suspected. The occupants where three Columbian citizens who were in the country illegally. The incident was handled by Post Falls Police Department.

Feb. 16 – Deputies responded to a possible missing person call in the area of Forest Service Road 439 and Forest Service 1575. Deputies contacted the subjects and learned they were dressed for the weather and were working on getting their vehicle out of the woods and did not need any assistance at this time.

Feb. 16 – A deputy made a traffic stop at Hanley and Government Way.  The driver showed signs of intoxication and was eventually charged with DUI.

Feb. 16 – Deputies handled a possible domestic dispute on Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive. Upon arrival it was determined to be a mental health issue and subject was transported to the North Idaho Crisis Center for assistance.

Feb. 16 – Deputies responded to a reported overdose. It was reported an 18-year-old female had consumed too much alcohol and was “freaking out.” Medical also responded and ended up transporting the female to Kootenai Health for some more treatment.

Feb. 17 – A deputy was doing some routine patrol in the Stateline Village area and observed a male who appeared to be working on the vehicle. The deputy ran the plate and registered owner and determined the registered owner was wanted. By this time, the male was now in the driver’s seat and pulling into the roadway. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle failed to stop and continued into Washington. Due to the deputy knowing who the male was, he declined to pursue into Washington and will be seeking charges for the failing to stop offense.

Feb. 17 – Deputies and Idaho State Police responded to a trespassing call in the Athol area. This is an ongoing issue and the suspects were contacted. Based on the investigation, the two suspects were arrested for trespassing.

Feb. 18 – Deputies responded to a trespassing possible aggravated assault, which was related to the above call. It was reported a male subject came onto the property again and threatened the reporting party with a handgun when they were asked to leave. The suspect got into a verbal argument with the spouse of the reporting party and then left in a vehicle. A deputy observed the vehicle pull into another residence but waited for cover before contacting the male subject. Eventually, the male barricaded himself in trailer and SWAT was called to the scene to assist. The male eventually came out of the trailer and was taken into custody.

Feb. 18 – Deputies responded to the area of Bunn and Greensferry for a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area being blocked in by residents. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted the two occupants. Eventually the two occupants were arrested for various drug charges, as well as felon in possession of a firearm, possession of burglary tools, possession of stolen property and other charges related to burglaries and property theft.

Feb. 18 – Deputies responded to a report of an overdose. Upon arrival of both law and medical, lifesaving efforts were started however were un-successful. Detectives were called to the scene as drug paraphernalia was located on scene.

Feb. 18 – A deputy made a traffic stop in the area of Pointe Parkway and Beck Road. During the stop and contact with the occupants, the deputy observed drugs and paraphernalia in plain view. The female occupant was eventually arrested for possession of meth.

Feb. 18 – Deputies responded to the Athol Super 1 for a shoplifter call, where the suspect fled in a white Tahoe. The Deputies attempted to locate the vehicle but were unsuccessful and a report was taken.

Feb. 18 – A deputy contacted a suspicious vehicle in the area of Highway 41 and Mullan Avenue. During the contact marijuana and paraphernalia was located. The occupant was issued citations for the drug offenses.
