Fugitive found dead in Athol
ATHOL — Authorities found a wanted man dead Wednesday, according to a news release issued by the U.S. Marshals Service.
A Boundary County judge issued an arrest warrant Feb. 2 for Todd A. Miller, 50, of Bonners Ferry. Miller faced charges of forcible penetration, sexual abuse of a child and indecent exposure, all felonies.
Last week, a Kootenai County judge issued an arrest warrant for Miller after he reportedly failed to appear in court on a drug charge.
The U.S. Marshals Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force located Miller on Wednesday in a residence off Kelso Lake Road in Athol.
After “failed attempts to get Miller to exit” the residence, authorities requested assistance from the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement found Miller dead inside the home Wednesday afternoon.
U.S. Marshals said Thursday that Miller has “extensive ties” in Kootenai County and Bonner County.
“The fugitive investigation was a collaborative effort amongst many law enforcement agencies throughout North Idaho,” Supervisory Deputy Marshal Michael Leigh said in an email.
Idaho State Police are investigating Miller’s death.
