| February 21, 2024 1:17 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Junior Christopher Moore scored 33 points for the second-seeded Kootenai Warriors in a 64-30 win over the third-seeded Mullan Tigers in a semifinal game in the 1A Division II District 1 tournament on Tuesday at North Idaho College, the Warriors’ first postseason win since 2017.

“What a wonderful game we had,” Kootenai coach Tom Tucker said. “The boys played their best game of the year.”

Freshman Logan Strobel scored 13 points for Kootenai (3-13), which faces top-seeded Clark Fork in Thursday’s championship game at 5:30 p.m. at North Idaho College.

Senior Stephen Petit scored 12 points for Mullan, which finished 2-16.

“Kootenai was a lot better than we were tonight,” Mullan coach Paul Elston said. “They did what they needed to do to get a win and played hard. We haven’t been healthy since late January, and just picked a bad time to get ill.”
