Patricia 'Pat' Eileen Castellan, 96
A lifelong resident, Pat spent her early years in Mace, Idaho, attending Burke Grammar School. She later moved to Wallace, where she graduated from Wallace High School.
Pat attended U of I, where she received a degree in home economics. While in college, she met Martin (Mike) Castellan, who had just returned from WWII. They married and set up a home in Wallace. Pat worked at Tabor’s in the accounting department. In the early 1950s, they moved to Cd’A and opened The Valley Ice and Fuel. She later attended NIC, received her teaching certificate, and enjoyed substituting at most of the Cd’A schools. She also worked at First Security Bank. Following retirement, they spent every February for many years on the Big Island of Hawaii with good friends. Mike passed away in 1996. Following the loss of her husband, Pat traveled with her daughters and dear friends from Beta Sigma Phi. She especially enjoyed Ireland, where her family had come from.
In later years, Pat was an avid PFCA fan, following her grandson's football games throughout North Idaho. Pat loved her family very much and always enjoyed attending family gatherings. Pat’s additional hobbies included bridge, golf, bowling, water and snow skiing, crafts and Beta Sigma Phi at St. Thomas Church, which she was a part of for over 55 years. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother of three, grandmother of five, great-grandmother of nine and just recently a great-great-grandmother of one. “It’s not the going, it’s the leaving.”
