Nancy Allen (Grayson), 84

| February 20, 2024 1:00 AM

Nancy L. Allen (Grayson) passed away from natural causes Feb. 10, 2024, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Nancy was born Nov. 15, 1939, in Post Falls, Idaho, to Larry and Ethel Grayson. Nancy grew up in the family’s farmhouse in the Spokane Valley with her younger siblings, Larry and Judee, and graduated from West Valley High School. Soon after high school, Nancy married Bud Allen and together they had four sons. In 1982, Nancy moved to Plummer, Idaho, and resided there until her recent passing.

Nancy loved the little ones and besides being Gramma to her own grandchildren, she became Gramma Nancy to many extended families in the Plummer area. Nancy spent her years in Plummer taking care of her grand and great-grandchildren, as well as the children of close family friends. She rarely missed an opportunity to attend the local family gatherings that were often had with the many celebrations of birthdays and holidays over the years. She enjoyed her many trips to the Oregon Coast with her family to visit her Dad and was even talked into a few camping trips on the St. Joe River as well.

Nancy had a forever-crush on Elvis Presley and enjoyed sharing with others her latest pieces of Elvis memorabilia. She loved hummingbirds and various knickknacks that she had around the house. There was always a bowl of chocolates/cookies out and waiting for all visitors and Nancy’s home always felt like “home” to everyone that came. Family pictures abounded on walls and shelves and there was always a growth chart on display for all to see how the grandchildren had grown. She was a proud Gramma to ALL of her 54 grandchildren!

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Ethel Grayson; her husband, Bud Allen; her sister-in-law, Marian; grandson Jeremy Allen; granddaughter Michelle Allen and nephew Matthew Grayson. She is survived by her brother, Larry Grayson Jr. (Judy); sister Judee Grayson; sister-in-law Faye; brothers-in-law Mel and Ron; her four sons and their wives, Terry (Stefane), Steve (Kim), Dan (Kathy) and Jeff (Dee); 24 grandchildren (their spouses) and 30 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family and friends want to thank Stefane, Jessica and Jena for all the care they have provided for Nancy over the years.

Nancy’s life is a testament to the peace we can all find by appreciating the simple things in life.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Plummer Bible Church in Plummer, with a meal to follow at the Plummer Community Center.

Nancy’s final resting place will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Plummer.
