Larry Wallace McDonough, 76
Oh what a man my man was!
Saved me from a horrible marriage, helped raise my two great kids (Alex Radinoff and Ellyn Varian) had two great sons of his own, Mark and Corey McDonough.
Work work work was all he’d ever known from helping his dad raise THOUSANDS of turkeys back in the 1950s to heading into the Army in the 1960s, spending three years in Germany.
Coming back, he learned how to operate cranes, joining operating engineers Local 12 Union in L.A., then Local 3 in Fresno, Calif. He retired after 42 years.
He then worked at Lowe’s in Clovis, Calif., transferred to Lowe’s in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and worked at the oldest hardware store in Idaho for almost three years, called Old West Hardware. His last job was at the Exxon station in Spirit Lake, where he was an employee of the month one month, then the very next month got fired because he said something “mean” to a co-worker! We got a lot of laughs over that.
He fought a good fight with esophageal cancer stage 4 that turned into lung cancer stage 4 … he beat it twice, but the third one came back with a vengeance.
He leaves behind the woman who loves him, his wife, Lori Miller; brothers Jerry, Danny and Doug; and lots of nieces and nephews; plus five grandkids.
He wasn’t here for a long time, but was always ready for a good time.
A better guy there will never be for me.
Larry McDonough
