Doris Lorraine Tipke, 97

| February 18, 2024 1:00 AM

Doris (Lorraine) Tipke, 97, from Hayden, Idaho, passed peacefully Feb. 12, 2024, just shy of her 98th birthday. Lorraine was born Feb. 15, 1926, to Lillie and Charles West in Wilder, Idaho.

Lorraine grew up in Hayden Lake, Idaho, married Walt Tipke on June 22, 1942, and raised their family in Hayden.

Lorraine worked as a seamstress out of her home doing alterations for Hayden Lake Country Club, Stitches and Britches, Harvey’s, and numerous individuals. She never complained about what life dealt her but was thankful for everything she had. She loved all her children and grandchildren and smiled (Happy Grandma) whenever you talked about any of them.

She was the stereotypical picture of what a grandma should be — curly short hair, a great laugh, cozy and inviting home. When she lived at home, she always had beautiful flower gardens and her house smelled like toast and bacon. She had told her grandkids stories of chasing after the "ice wagon" and the time before plastic. She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, playing cards with friends and family, and not to mention her days at the casino. She also loved animals, especially farm babies. Such a fascinating life she lived and was able to see the fifth generation come into this world.

Lorraine leaves behind her children, Fran Davis of Hayden, Verla Reed of Spirit Lake, Claudia Moser of Post Falls, Larry Tipke of Chilco, Donna (Russ) Dansereau of Toppenish and Tina Tipke of Hayden; grandchildren Rhonda (Bill) Schelin, Eddie (Carrie) Davis, Toni (Bob) Allen, Dennis (Karli) Reed, Chelle (Rick) Yeend, Deborah Patton, Lori (Jim) Schrader, Kimmie (John) Henry, Rob Dansereau, Bill Dansereau, Marissa (Jo) Garrett, Josh (Bonnie) Tipke and Caitlin (Jeremy) Guzman; 29 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt; sister Hazel Fox; son Jerry Tipke; sons-in-law Roll Davis, Wayne Huston, Jim Reed and Lloyd Moser; daughter-in-law Sandee Tipke; granddaughter Donna Holden and grandson-in-law Fredjack Patton.

Special thanks to the staff of Brookdale Coeur d’Alene and Coeur d’ Alene Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia, and Shavaine Byass for the exceptional care she received.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024, at Bell Tower Funeral Home, 3398 Jenalan Ave., Post Falls, Idaho.

In memory of Lorraine, please consider donations to your favorite charity. Thank you.
