STATE 2A GIRLS BASKETBALL: Kellogg bows out in two
KUNA — After playing a strong first three quarters on Thursday, the Kellogg Wildcats got off to a slow start on Friday, in the consolation-round game of the state 2A girls basketball tournament.
Eighth-seeded Kellogg fell behind by 32 points at halftime, and eventually lost to the No. 5 Melba Mustangs 72-41 at Kuna High.
Kellogg, in its first trip to state since 2022 in 3A, finished 15-11.
Senior Macy Jerome hit three 3-pointers and led Kellogg with 20 points and six rebounds. Senior Emily Coe added 11 points for the Wildcats.
Tariah Carter led Melba (17-7) with 23 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Brooklynn Dayley added 22 points and six assists for the Mustangs, who play Soda Springs for the consolation title today.
